LIBRARY/BOOKSTORE VISITS

I love to visit classrooms, schools, and libraries. One of the joys of being an author is to connect with my target readers — kids! I would love to come to your library and read my books, discuss the writing and editing process, and answer questions about how stories and books are created.

Please check out my library visit program and fees below. I can customize my visit to fit your library' s needs. Email me with any questions, and to arrange a time and date. I'm also available for virtual visits.

WHAT DOES A LIBRARY/BOOKSTORE VISIT LOOK LIKE?

I like to communicate with the librarian before the visit to discuss the area of focus.  Do you want a reading and Q & A? Or something more interactive such as a writing or book-related activity? Do you want the focus to be on the story or on the writing and research process or something that ties into your library theme and program?

Bookstore appearances are more of a straight reading/signing rather than a presentation, but can be accompanied by a simple hands-on activity.

AV NEEDS:

I prefer to do my readings and presentations with a power point as I can enlarge the book pages and illustrations to make it easier for the kids to see. So, it's helpful to have:

  • A projector set up

  • A screen

ROOM SET UP

  • One table to display my books and for book signing.

Public libraries often attract a varied age-group, so I usually play it by ear and adjust my presentation depending on who shows up.

I will have books on hand for signing and purchase. If, for some reason, your state/city/library does not allow this, please let me know in advance.

Upon the conclusion of the visit, I will donate a book of the librarian's choice to the library.
